Embracing New Beginnings: Painting Pandas' Focus on Under-resourced Elementary Schools
As we enter a new year, Painting Pandas reflects on the transformative journey of the past three years. Through our experiences, we have discovered that our most significant impact lies in our work within schools. Therefore, with a renewed sense of purpose, we are thrilled to announce our decision to focus on and serve under-resourced elementary schools primarily.
New Partnerships, New Opportunities
Our current school partnership is with the North Kenwood Oakland, University of Chicago Charter School, where we have witnessed the positive influence of art education on students (scholars). Additionally, we are excited to extend our reach as we embark on a new partnership with CRETE Academy in Los Angeles, starting March 2024. These partnerships mark the beginning of a chapter filled with possibilities, and we are eager to continue making a difference in the lives of over 700 combined students.
Unveiling Our Programming
Our comprehensive programming, consisting of 288 lessons tailored for different grade groups, is at the core of our impact. Each lesson is thoughtfully divided into two parts, spanning approximately 25 slides each. During the first week, students are introduced to the lesson, engaging with the book, social-emotional learning (SEL) questions, and fun facts. The second week shifts the focus to the artist, artistic elements, and the art project.
While Painting Pandas provides project guidelines, we are passionate about fostering creativity in students. We encourage them to unleash their imagination and add their unique twist to every project, ensuring a truly personalized and enriching artistic experience. Most importantly we encourage students to share work with their peers and grown-up to further the social learning experience.
